The Jan & Oscar Foundation has been supporting education in Thailand since 2005 with scholarships and school renovations. The Foundation created Ranong Recycle for Environment in 2019 supporting the Social Enterprise. Goals include supporting disadvantaged communities and individuals, including the Moken, in the development of waste management projects, as well as educating children about plastic pollution and environmental issues.
Ranong Recycle for Environment is a social enterprise created in 2019 with the support of the Swiss Jan & Oscar Foundation.
We support the collection of certified Ocean Bound plastic from islands and coastal areas in the South of Thailand. The plastic is purchased and recycled by our partner Tide Ocean Material to produce new high quality objects and textiles.
Our social mission is at the core of our values. We promote, support and collaborate with individuals and communities who are the most disadvantaged. This include the Moken people, a discriminated ethnic group living on the Andaman Sea Islands. Our project “Moken guardians of the sea” received an IUCN Circular Economy grant in 2020 under the Marplasticcs program.
Our enterprise mission includes education, professional training, employment, integration and sustainable development. Our trusted team living in Ranong are here to develop long-term projects, including the educational mission of the Jan and Oscar Foundation.
