Kraburi

The coastal community of Nam Chut is located at the edge of the Kraburi river, which separates Thailand and Burma. It consists of 9 villages. It is a particularly sensitive area ecologically, since the estuary of this river shelters the largest protected mangrove forest in Thailand!

Khun Took, our local leader, is training the villagers on plastic sorting and has been collecting plastic with us since 2021. Rather than disposing of the plastics in an inappropriate way, the plastic became a valuable resource for the people.

By obtaining a Global Giving grant from the 3M Foundation in 2022, we are able to plan the construction of a small waste management facility. It will be used as a collection point for recyclable waste and a training center to teach locals how to properly sort and dispose of their waste.
